Macks5

When I was 15 weeks pregnant with Macks, MacKay and I sat impatiently in the ultrasound room to find out the sex of our third child. MacKay was confident it was going to be a boy and deep down I prayed that I would be blessed with a son.

As the technician rubbed the ultrasound wand over my belly she asked, “Do you want to know the sex?” “Of course,” MacKay and I both shouted. We don’t have a whole lot of patience when it comes to this sort of thing. “It’s a boy,” she said. My eyes swelled with tears as I asked her over and over again if she was sure. After two girls I thought that is all my body was capable of producing. But sure enough, after showing me undeniable proof on the ultrasound machine, I was able to see my beautiful baby boy.

“You know I’m going to go crazy with this.” MacKay said as we walked out of the ultrasound room. “With what?” I asked. “This whole boy thing. Knicks gear, baseball hats, everything sports related.” You could hear the excitement in his voice as he thought about his future with our son.

While I wasn’t thinking sports, I was wondering what life would be like as a mom of a boy. I was so immersed in princesses and pinks and tutus that I had no idea where to even begin with a little guy of my own. But when reality hit and I welcomed Macks into my arms it was better than I ever imagined.

At nearly four months, he is truly a mama’s boy. Long after he has gone to bed each night, I just sit and stare at him and quietly thank him for being such a wonderful blessing in my life. I tell him about my hopes and dreams for what he becomes and how much he has already fulfilled so much in my life.

It’s these hopes and dreams that I have for Macks that Playtex is helping capture through the Beginnings Imagined program. The program is an opportunity to win a bespoke illustration and story of what your little one could become and be entered to win a grand prize of a $5,000 scholarship to help them fulfill their dreams.

I am beyond excited to share Macks’ illustration with you and I’m even more excited to be able to give one lucky reader a custom illustration of their own. Enter by filling out the form below.
