Last Thanksgiving we had the amazing opportunity to check out the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade from one of the best locations on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. After watching it for so many years on television, it was such an amazing experience to see all of those classic balloons up close and personal. As the balloons passed by, the kids pointed up to the sky at so many of the recognizable characters. Many they’d seen from movies, books, and television. One of the balloons that they pointed at as it went by was the most famous duck in all of the country, the Aflac Duck. I laughed as Harlan and Avery yelled “Aflac” in the duck voice as it passed by us.

This year we won’t be making it to the parade, but we will be watching the 90th anniversary of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on television, and just like last year, we will watch as all of our favorite characters march by, including the Aflac Duck.

While we all recognize the Aflac Duck from the commercials and know Aflac for being an insurance company, what a lot might not know it is that Aflac has passionately supported the fight against childhood cancer for more than 20 years.

We all know someone who has been affected by childhood cancer. It’s a devastating disease and one that our children should never ever have to experience. Aflac’s mission is very simple: eradicate childhood cancer. Aflac has passionately supported the fight against childhood cancer since 1995, donating more than $111 million towards research and treatment.  This year Aflac is asking for your help to make this the future for all of our children. And what better way to do that than to get our children involved by doing something that is fun for all.

To get in the spirit of the holidays and help boost awareness for Aflac’s #Duckprints campaign, Aflac has developed a new online game, “Build Your Own Balloonicle,” where you can create your own Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade balloonicle, featuring the beloved Aflac Duck. For every game experience that you share on social media with #Duckprints, Aflac will donate $2 to the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, in support of childhood cancer treatment and research (up to $1.5 million dollars).  With your help with this campaign, not only are you building awareness, but you’re raising money so that we all can help with the ultimate mission of eradicating childhood cancer.
