Growing up I loved to dance. I took ballet, tap, jazz and loved performing in front of everyone. Dressing up in our costumes for the dance recitals was one of my favorite things. It made me feel like a princess. Unfortunately I loved playing tennis even more and that took over my life. Dancing became no more and my love and passion for it became a thing of the past.
When I found out I was having a girl I dreamed of her taking dance lessons just as I did when I was little. She was given tutu’s and ballerina dolls at baby showers. I don’t ever want to push anything on her and I want her to find what she loves on her own. But nothing made me happier then the first time I saw Harlan dance to music. She was 9 months old and started shaking her arms every time she would hear the song from her My First Purse toy. From that day on she has been in love with music and dancing.
On Sunday we attended the Big City Moms Valentine’s Day party at Kidville. It was a great way to celebrate a holiday filled with love with my family that I love. We enjoyed munching on great food and chatting with great people. Harlan’s favorite part of the party was the concert with Little Maestros.
Harlan is currently going through a very clingy stage {to the point that she won’t go 1 foot away from me} so I was surprised when we got in to the room and she darted towards the front the see the Maestros do their dance and sing. She immediately started to dance to the music. This was dancing like I have never seen her dance before. She was copying the performers, shaking her hands in the air, spinning around, really embracing everything going on around her. I have never seen her get so involved in music and dancing like this.
Her dance performance caught the attention of many that were around her. They laughed and cheered as she spinned around and bounced up and down.
The smile on my face could not have gotten any bigger as I watched her fall utterly in love with dancing.
This may be only the beginning of her love of dance or she could grow to love something else just as I did growing up. Either way, I will cherish this moment forever. Harlan always finds a way to warm my heart. Dance away my dancing queen.

Buba and Harlan must take class at the same place bc they have the exact same moves! Love here. And that tutu, my goodness. Can I borrow that?
Lauren
Well then they need to practice their moves together! Isn’t the tutu amazing? She loves wearing them and I think it adds a little extra “oomph” to the dance moves. I want one too!
