When I got married it was one of the best days of my life. I married the man of my dreams and was so thrilled to able to call myself his wife. Our lives got even better when we welcomed our daughter into the world. No longer was I just a wife, but now a mother.
Our lives change drastically when we become “grown ups.” No longer do we only have to look after ourselves, but we actually have people that we are responsible for. People that look to us for guidance and support. Rely on us so that they can get through their day.
I now have two other mouths to feed instead of one. The first thing on my mind when I get up in the morning is what does Harlan need for breakfast or what can I do for my husband to make sure he makes it to work on time. Gone are the days of sleeping in or staying up until all hours of the night {willingly.} I can no longer be selfish because I am no longer the most important person in my life, my family is.
Although I have others needs before my own, I would choose no other life for myself. I am completely and utterly in love with everything I have been blessed with. There are times when I do need “me time” so that I can recharge. I do need to take the time to step away from the craziness and focus on me so that I can give my family my best.
Taking time for myself doesn’t mean I have to spend a day at the spa, it’s the little things that get me refreshed so that I can keep on going. During Harlan’s nap I make sure to forget about anything that needs to be done around the apartment and focus on me. I’ll read a book, catch up on my favorite tv shows, go on the computer, take a nap, do anything that does not involve cooking, cleaning or taking care of others. It is the two hours in my day that I allow myself to be lazy and selfish.
I also love going to the coffee shop at night and just write. I am lucky enough to live in a city with a coffee shop on every corner, so I can easily put Harlan to bed and give my husband his time while I am enjoying my own time.
It’s amazing how great I feel after those little moments that I get to myself. It’s helps me get rid of all of the stress that easily comes with being a wife and mother and let’s me get refocused on what really matters in my life; my family.

I think, as a wife and mother, a little “me” time is vital. I like to run in my me time.

I go to the gym in the morning and it is nice to get that time to myself as well. Love the way I feel after the gym.

I love your journaling. It allows me to keep up with you and yoour family. Distance makes it impossible to see you as often as I would like but the blog makes me feel that I am in touch. Thanks for all the beautiful pictures of Our great grand daughter.
