Thank you to Yahoo! Mail for sponsoring this post about staying connected. I was selected for this sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity, as I do.
My last day of college was probably one of the saddest days of my life. My car was packed up in the sorority house parking lot as my parents waited for me to say my goodbyes. I had just spent the past four years with the best girlfriends I could have asked for.
When I first got to Florida State I knew I wanted to join a sorority. I knew the Greek system was very prevalent there and I’d always dreamt of living in a sorority house with girls that would be my friends for a lifetime. My dream came true {as corny as that sounds} when I joined my sorority. The girls in my pledge class quickly became my best friends. We spent our days together walking to class and our nights thinking about anything but class. We spent our Spring Breaks traveling across the country and beyond and our summers counting down until school began again.
After the four years were about to come to a close and graduation neared, we desperately searched for a way to connect with one another. We knew we would still long for the conversations we had until 3am. At the time Facebook was just budding with popularity but that just wasn’t enough. We decided to start a Yahoo! mail group. We were all added to the list so that with just one email address we could send an email out to everyone in the pledge class.
It cut down on remembering everyone’s email address or forgetting who we had to add if drafting an email. It made staying connecting beyond graduation so much easier.
Our Yahoo! list was the first email I sent after I got engaged. The first I sent to announce I was pregnant. We send emails to each other all the time announcing the big news in our lives and just to catch everyone up. It was by far one of the smartest decisions we made our senior year of college.
Although those four years have come and gone, the memories are still forever in my heart. Luckily we can continue to reminisce on those memories everyday with the power of technology.

What a pretty pic of all of you. That’s awesome that you keep in touch with your sorority sisters. I wish I were more active with mine, but we’re so widespread across the country. However, we have a listserve that we use to keep in touch as well!

Aww, I could have guessed you were an ADPi! I was a Tri Delta at USF {and no, we were NOT like the Tri Delts at FSU} 😉 haha I’m still really close with my sorority sisters as well! Sisters for life, definitely.

love this post! I was a Delta Zeta and being in a sorority was the best decision I ever made in college. On the night before rush started i was still on the “fence” if I wanted to do it or not. My close friends are still my sorority sisters and even if I don’t see them on a daily basis I know they are always there for me.:)

I love that you keep in such close contact with your college friends! My husband is still really close with the guys from his fraternity, too. I think it’s so special.

I was an ADPi, too! At University of Michigan. Small world! If we ever meet each other we’ll have to do the secret handshake. 🙂

Such a sweet post. I never joined a sorority, but I am still connected with my college friends too. We get together for dinner, drinks, something every so often. It’s great. Facebook helps a ton, too. What a great pic of you guys. I think I see you in the front right corner, no?
