Before I even get started, I want to let you know this is about a month too late. Avery is six months old next week, but I’ve been doing so well up until now that I didn’t want to stop it. I’ve compiled some of the fun and exciting things that Avery has done over her fifth month. I love to do this each month (here’s month one, month two, month three, and month four) so I can document how she is growing.
Month five was so much fun. Avery’s personality is really starting to shine. She loves people and is genuinely happy 90% of the time. If you want to see some super duper cute pictures of Avery from her fifth month, I showcased a few of my favorites over at Babble.
Month Five Fun Facts:
- She weighs 11 lbs 10 oz (gained only two ounces)
- She is 24.5 inches in height (gained over an inch in height)
- We are now sleeping through the night! She averages 11-12 hours. It is glorious! We did sleep train and it only took one night for her to get on track.
- She learned how to roll over from her back to stomach and now loves tummy time!
- She is sleeping on her stomach during the night, which absolutely terrifies me, but it is the only way she will sleep now.
- We’ve finally gotten ourselves on a wonderful routine and schedule and her naps during the day are fairly predictable, which makes my life a whole lot easier.
- She moved into her own room this month which has been going great! She loves sleeping in her crib.
- We visited the beach for the first time this month and while she loves watching the waves, she hated going in the water.
- She also isn’t a huge fan of baths either.
Month six has been so much fun too! Stay tuned for an update on Avery’s sixth month next week!

Do you mind sharing which sleep training method you use? Our just what you do?
Lauren
Hi Danni! I used The Dream Sleeper. I modified it to fit our lifestyle, but used the general concepts and principles. Within one night she was sleeping through the night! 🙂

I’ve been enjoying your posts on babble so much that I finally hopped over to your personal blog to check it out! Your posts are always my favorite on there!
anyways, I was curious how did you transition Avery into her own room? My baby is 5 months and still sleeping with me. I have no idea how I am going to get her into her crib….I feel so bad just plopping her in there when it will be so foreign for her! Thanks for any advice
Lauren
Thank you! That is so sweet. Honestly, I just put her in there. I did the same with Harlan. She did great and didn’t have much of a transition period. I felt awful too, but she really enjoyed it and still does!
