Having a little girl that is very opinionated about her choice in clothes can sometimes make it extremely difficult to not only get dressed every morning, but to buy clothes for as well. Harlan will definitely let me know if she doesn’t like something that I buy for her and would much rather go shopping with me to help me pick it out.
As the holidays approach, I am starting to think about Christmas outfits for the girls. Now that Harlan is old enough to help make some decisions regarding her wardrobe, I want to get her involved with picking out her clothes. Not only does this girl have amazing fashion sense at just three years old, but it is so fun to shop with her. The conversations that we have about why she likes certain clothes are so entertaining. She loves a certain dress because it’s pink or she likes those shoes because they sparkle. At three years old, this girl definitely knows what she wants when it comes to her wardrobe.
One of my absolute favorite stores, Target, invited Harlan to try out some of their holiday looks for a photo shoot here in New York City. Knowing that she is a mini fashionista, I knew she was going to have an amazing time.
Target has always been my go-to store for anything and everything, especially during the holidays. It’s a little bit tougher to get to the Target here in the city because we don’t own a car, but I make extra special trips once a month to stock up on everything I need. Not only do they have amazing prices on all of my household and grocery items, but their kids clothes are super stylish and priced well.
Target sent a handful of their current collection for Harlan to test out and model during the photo shoot. But before she tried on the fabulous clothes, she had to get camera ready with hair and makeup.
Harlan has never had a hair cut before (it’s taken SO long for us to even get to this point), but the hair and makeup person on set recommended that we trim it a bit on the ends to give it a little bit of shape. Harlan didn’t seem to mind and I knew that it would be a great story to tell her later on that her first haircut was on the set of a photo shoot. They were even gracious enough to save a little curl for me.
She did great during the haircut and was ready for her very first time getting her makeup done. She always watches me do it and begs for me to do it to her as well. I’ve always said no. You can imagine her excitement when I told her she was going to get her makeup done just like mommy.
She was so focused throughout the entire process. Just wanted to take everything in.
And a fabulous pink bow from Target to complete the look!
The stylists on the shoot were gracious enough to let Harlan pick out her outfit for the photos. Of course she had absolutely no problem deciding and gravitated towards the pink and sparkles in the room.
The Cherokee polka dot bubble skirt that she chose was absolutely adorable and the ruffles on the pink shirt were just her style.
She looked in the mirror after we put on her clothes and you could tell how pleased that she was to be wearing such a cute and stylish outfit.
Pretty soon we were on set ready to shoot. But not before making sure her hair was picture perfect.
She was so well behaved when the stylist came on to make sure her outfit was fitted correctly for the photos. Such a pro on her very first shoot.
And then she put on her best smile for the camera.
I love all of the decor that they had on set. Such festive treats to complete her holiday look.
We had two different looks for the shoot. I think Harlan was more excited about the second look than she was the first. Can you guess why?
This little girl rocked that tutu and those sparkly pink high-top shoes!
I was so pleased when I saw the final photos from the shoot. Harlan looked so amazing in these Target looks.
Can I just tell you how obsessed I am with this photo? The multi-colored glitter headband and that big pink tutu rock!
Now we just have to decide which Target look Harlan wants to wear for Christmas. They were both so cute that I have no problem letting her make the final decision.
I have a least one more trip to Target before Christmas so that I can stock up on all of the groceries that I need for our Christmas dinner and last minute stocking stuffers. After seeing all of the amazing clothes that they had at the shoot, I think I might be making a stop in the kids clothing section for an extra special outfit for my little girl to put under the Christmas tree.
A big thanks to Target for sponsoring this campaign. Click here to see more of the discussion.

I love that H gave the stylist input! She really worked it out. Love the looks. She seriously looks like a little doll Lauren. A real model.

Great photos! I love that she got her first hair cut… that is a good story for the memory book! Seriously, what would we do without Target?! Love that place. New site design looks great, too!
