My husband is from Zambia, Africa. It is traditional for the mothers there to wrap their babies on their backs from a very young age and far into toddlerhood. although I do know how to use a chitange cloth to wrap my daughter on my back, my carrier makes it so much more comfortable and easy to wear for long periods of time. We traveled through Zambia last summer while my daughter was 1 1/2 years old and she rode in her carrier quite a lot! We are going back again this year and would love to have a new carrier to use so that we can pass our old one over to her cousin in Zambia.
