A couple of weeks ago I took a day to myself to get all of our baby gear out of storage so that the girls could adjust to having it around. I am trying to do this transition in stages so that it doesn’t overwhelm them when their little brother arrives. While Harlan understands what’s going on (she loved it when Avery was born,) Avery only gets little bits and pieces of the situation (ask her where her brother is and she will lift up her shirt to show you her belly.)
I’m trying not to overdo it with the baby gear in the apartment because we literally don’t have the space for it all. City living has really made me a minimalist and I only want what is absolutely necessary for these first few months. After experiencing the newborn stage twice now (which was completely different each time,) I am fairly confident in the gear that I need in order to make my life easier.
On that list of “must-haves” is a swing for the baby. Both of my girls loved the motion of the swing and it was so nice to be able to put them in a place where they can be content and I can get things done. But let’s be honest, most swings take up a ton of space because they are large and bulky. That’s where the 4moms rockaRoo steps in.
We used the 4moms mamaRoo with Avery and she loved it, but it didn’t mimic the motion of a swing, which she really loved. The new 4moms rockaRoo is compact, stylish, and innovative (as all 4moms products are.) Unlike the mamaRoo, which mimics many of the motions that parents do to soothe the baby, the rockaRoo flips the traditional swing on its head. Literally. It rocks like a rocking horse, which maximizes the sensation of motion for your baby.
It features five speeds, an MP3 hook-up (which I used all the time on the mamaRoo for Avery,) and removable toy balls.
The girls have already had fun practicing using the rockaRoo with their baby dolls. This is their favorite activity to do in the morning when they play together.
The girls have practiced the motion on their baby and tell me how much she loves it (don’t you love the pretend stage?) But as much as I love watching the girls play together with their baby doll in the rockaRoo, I cannot wait to see my little man rocking away peacefully!
Good news! 4moms has generously given AMITC readers a chance to win a rockaRoo of your own. Just fill out the form below to enter.
