I always look forward to the weekend. Not only because it gives me a chance to unplug, but because it’s the only time all week that the four of us really have a chance to be together. Whether it’s a lazy day or exciting adventures around the city, we make sure to the make the most of it.
My constant (but irregular) contractions keep me reminded that this little guy will be here soon and our weekends as a family of four are quickly coming to an end. I’m not sure if the girls sense his upcoming arrival, but they have been attached to me nearly all weekend.
Harlan and I enjoyed a little date on Saturday morning while I took her to a birthday party and then to pick out a present for her baby brother. I came home and spent the rest of the day on the couch with the girls climbing all over me. They both have become rather attached to using my baby bump as their pillow. I can’t tell you how many times they will come up and lay their head down on it just to relax. Avery likes to lift up my shirt and kiss my stomach while saying “brother.” (Yes, we call him brother because MacKay and I can’t settle on a nickname for him yet.)
Sunday consisted of much of the same. We stayed home, napped, and truly enjoyed being lazy. The girls and I laid in my bed most of the morning cuddling. We don’t do it that often (mostly because neither of them will sit still long enough,) so when they do want to sit and lay with me, I take it as long as I can.
As they sat next to me and kept touching my belly, Harlan asks (and continues to ask each day,) “When is baby brother going to be here?” My answer is always, “soon.” Both girls are very anxious for his arrival, as we all are, but as much as I long for this pregnancy to be over and meet my son, I am cherishing every single second with just these two girls. Even if it is just for a lazy weekend of laying around the house.
Hope you had a great weekend!

I felt the same way as my due date approached and wrote about it here: http://mommycallblog.com/2013/09/11/threes-company/
It is nice to have that special time with your family “as is,” and to appreciate it in its last moments. Soon your family will grow (again) in a special way. Take every moment of rest you can get while you can!

Thank you Katie! I needed this lazy day and it’s just the icing on the cake when I can do it with family. 🙂
