Another Monday after a long holiday weekend! Monday’s are always the hardest when you have an incredible weekend weekend that you don’t want to end, aren’t they?
We hosted our first party in our new home on Friday for the 4th of July. Of course we had a backyard barbecue planned and the only day that the weather was poor was on Friday. We didn’t let the bad weather rain on our parade, so we moved everything indoors and had a great time. I always love a good excuse to plan and decorate for a party and celebrating America’s birthday was perfect!
My new obsession is homemade mint lemonade. I could have easily drank this entire thing.
These cookies from Eleni’s were the perfect patriotic treat for the party. The kids could not stop eating them.
We drink water all the time in this house and I love water with just a little bit of flavor. This Birch Lane Infusion Pitcher is a great way to add a fun flavor to your favorite drink. These fruits not only made the water taste even more delicious, but they also went great with the decor.
The weather cleared up by the evening and just in time for us to take in a few games of Kan Jam. My future brother-in-law brought it over. Basically the point is to try to get a frisbee to either hit or into the can. My sister and I were on a team and we were horrible because neither of us knows how to throw a frisbee. We were down 5-15 when all of the sudden my sister throws the frisbee and it goes directly into the can making us the winners of the game. It felt a little bit like we won a national championship or something. The underdogs took home the crown. There was a lot of screaming and cheering at the end of that match. We refused to play again because we wanted to maintain our victory.
On Saturday we went to our town’s festival they were holding. It was so much fun to see the culture and history of the town and learn about this place we now call home. The girls insisted on dressing alike and wearing their dresses from Mon Petit, a children’s shop in Brooklyn.
Macks had a blast and enjoyed the absolutely gorgeous weather.
They had historical re-enactors to show us what life was like in our era from the 1600s to today. The girls loved seeing so many historical artifacts and asked so many questions about what things were and why they used them.
Macks had fun playing in the grass.
We love having my sister and her fiancé with us. They’ve been here nearly every weekend helping out. We kept saying to each other that it feels like we are on vacation, but we aren’t. Truth that we are really beginning to love our life here.
It’s impossible to get a photo with everyone smiling, isn’t it?
After the festival we made our way to the beach for the rest of the afternoon and night. Our town had to postpone the fireworks from Friday night because of the weather, but it ended up working out perfectly because we enjoyed the afternoon playing in the sand and the water and then stayed until it got dark for the fireworks.
It was such an incredible weekend filled with family, friends, and so much fun that will be hard to top for a while. I hope you had an amazing 4th of July!
