One of the reasons that I fell in love with New York City was because there are so many places to discover and explore. When we lived there, we tried to visit many places in the city, but often life got in the way and we stuck to our neighborhood most of the time.
Now, when we go into the city, we go for a purpose and often times to explore many of the parts we hadn’t had a chance to see while we lived there. Last weekend was a chance to do just that when we were invited by Langham Place, Fifth Avenue for a little NYC staycation.
The hotel, located just blocks away from Grand Central Station and Bryant Park, was a truly breathtaking experience. From the moment we pulled up in front and were greeted by name (even the kids too!) to stepping into our suite, we were in awe of the luxury.
Langham Place, Fifth Avenue recently debuted their Family Getaway Package and wanted to show us what they have in store for their littlest guests. Our suite included a kitchen, living room with a king size pull-out couch, and full size bathroom, and the bedroom had a king size bed. The place was bigger than our apartment and it was so nice knowing that the kids had enough room to run, play, and have fun.
As we walked into our room, all three kids were greeted with giant cookies with their names on it. The girls went crazy and felt so special knowing their was something just for them in the room.
On Friday night MacKay had an event in the city, so the kids and I quickly got in our pajamas before ordering room service. Macks had a crib set up for him in our room and he went to bed while the girls and I lounged on the pull out couch in the living room. I don’t think I’ve ever seen them so excited to go to sleep. As someone came in to pull out the bed and set it up for them, they both squealed with delight. It was so cute.
Our room was located on the top floor and had the most spectacular views of the city. It’s not often that we get to see the city like this and it was easy to get lost in the scenery. The girls would often walk up to the windows and just look out. Although they grew up in the city, they had never quite seen it like this and it was so fun to hear them point out the water towers, the Chysler building and all of the little bitty taxis that they saw in the streets.
We woke up the next morning to those same spectacular views and feeling spoiled in our robes and room service.
As part of their family offerings, Langham Place, Fifth Avenue, just debuted Cultured Kids at Langham Place. We were so excited to take part in the program during our stay. Cultured Kids at Langham Place includes a new specially-curated menu of amenities and add-ons to ensure that families can take full advantage of the cultural offerings available at the hotel and throughout the city.
On Saturday morning, we were whisked away to the Little Collectors tour which included three art galleries in Chelsea that allowed the girls to see portraits taken by photographer Martin Schoeller and the black and white exhibitions from artist, Keith Haring.
The girls were able to see art in a way that they’ve never seen it before. Our private tour was led by a children’s art educational specialist and was entertaining for all of us. While we were used to going to the museums accross the city that were filled with art, this was something that was on a much smaller and more intimate scale. The galleries were so accomodating to the girls and really tailored the tour to their liking.
Upon our arrival back to Langham Place, Fifth Avenue the girls were greeted to a special Little Collectors gift package curated just for them. We immediately read the signed copy of “Who Pushed Humpty Dumpty?” and I was in awe of the framed art that will go perfectly in the girls room.
The rest of the afternoon was spent eating lunch at Measure Lounge downstairs and relaxing in the room. The suite was so comfortable that we really didn’t want to leave. The girls watched television, played with their toys, and just spent time looking out the windows, while I relaxed on the couch.
That night we had reservations at Ai Fiori, the Michelin-starred restaurant located on the second floor of the hotel. I was a little nervous bringing the kids to such a nice restaurant, but the staff was so friendly and accomodating to the kids and their requests. The meal was incredible and the girls even got a tour of the kitchen after dinner. They loved being able to see just where their pasta was cooked.
That night the girls spent most of their time in the enormous bathroom in our suite. It had a mirror that covered the entire wall and they couldn’t stop staring at themselves. They finished off the night in the tub for a bubble bath. I was so happy to see the bath products that they had for the kids because it’s stuff that we use at home!
I love this picture of the girls because it’s rare when I wake up before them. I walked into the living room so see them so close together and sleeping peacefully.
Sunday morning we were treated to brunch at Tunes with Tina in the Measure Lounge. The girls got to listen and sing to some of their favorite songs from Disney classics, pop, and broadway tunes by Tina deVaron. We were even treated to a special performance from Ashley Blanchet who is currently on Broadway in BEAUTIFUL, The Carole King Musical. It’s was so nice ot be able to be entertained while enjoying a delicious brunch.
On our way home, after waking up from a nap, Avery asked where we were going. As soon as I told her home she started crying. She told me she wanted to go back to the hotel. That’s how special this place was to the girls. Even days later they are still talking about it. The hospitality that Langham Place, Fifth Avenue showed us during our stay was truly unforgettable!
