One of the biggest reasons I was so excited for the holidays was because I finally have a house that I can decorate on the exterior. I tried to make-up for not having anything to decorate on the outside of our apartment in NYC by completely going overboard with Christmas decorations inside the apartment, but now that we have a house, I can do everything that I’ve wanted to do for years!
I didn’t want to go completely crazy with our front porch because it’s not that big, but I did have a vision for what I wanted and thankfully Target could help me out with it. I wanted a very natural, timeless, and simplistic holiday look and I am so happy with the way that everything turned out.
Here is our front porch before we added all of the Christmas decorations. I had just thrown the girls Halloween pumpkins away and was trying to get every last bit of those stacked pumpkins because I was so in love with them.
I found this doormat and knew it was the perfect way to welcome guests into our home. It’s a mat that can last us through the holiday and throughout the winter season!
I wanted a real wreath for our front door and went to several local nurseries searching for the perfect one. After the sixth nursery I found this one and love the mix of greenery and berries. It’s will be on my front door far beyond Christmas day.
These birch wood logs were the inspiration for the entire front porch. I love them so much that I want to incorporate them on my Christmas table as well. They are so simple and really put me in the spirit of the season.
I didn’t put any Christmas lights on the front porch because I wanted to keep it simple, but when I saw this lantern at Target, I knew it would look great next to the birch logs to give it more of a woodsy feel. It’s battery operated and has LED lights, so it adds just the right amount of light to the porch at night.
Tada! Like I said, it’s not much, but it’s just the look that I was going for. Next year we might get a little bit crazier, but for our first Christmas in our new house, this is perfect to get us into the holiday spirit.
I have one more $75 Target gift card to give away! This holiday series with them has been so much fun and I love spreading the holiday cheer to all of you! Fill out the form below to enter.
{Disclosure: I am partnering with Target this holiday season and they did provide a gift card to go shopping. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.}
