We’re pretty Star Wars obsessed in our house. The Star Wars bug has affected everyone and now it’s all I hear about all the time. With this being the case, it came as no surprise to me that Harlan wanted a Star Wars party for her birthday.
Now that she’s older, Harlan wants to be super involved in the party planning process. She knows how much I love putting everything together and she appreciates all of the work that goes into the party. She helped me every step of the way from the decor to the food. We shopped online, looked on Pinterest, and she even got involved on making some of the decor on her own.
My inspiration for the party was all of the gorgeous balloon garlands I’ve seen on social media lately. I decided to try my hand at doing one myself. While it’s rather simple, it’s incredibly time consuming. Between blowing up the balloons and attaching them, it took a little over two hours to put together (I’ll do a quick tutorial soon.) But even with the time put in, I love the way it turned out!
As with every party, we ordered our cake from Magnolia Bakery in the city. I bought some fondant and cut out the stars to decorate it and then added the figurines on the top. Harlan took great pride in picking out the two characters that adorned the top of the cake and knew that it had to be one from the dark side and one from the light side (is that correct Star Wars lingo?)
Pinterest had some pretty great Star Wars food ideas and these were all super easy to make!
When her friends arrived to the party everyone got a mask and a lightsaber and we officially kicked off the celebration with a dual. They had so much fun getting into character.
Probably my favorite piece was these marble inspired plates from Shop Sweet Lulu. I wish I could use them for every party I throw.
And by far the best moment was when MacKay dressed as Kylo Ren and surprised everyone at the party. He was a a highlight of the party and Harlan could not have been happier.
Happy Seventh Birthday Harlan!
