As a little girl my parents brought my sister and I to see our favorite Disney stories come to life on the ice. We came home and talked for hours about the show. I remember getting a snow cone at the show that was placed in “Chip” the tea cup from “Beauty and the Beast.” This show was a memory that is so fond to me and my sister to this day. Never would I have thought that one day I would be able to share the same experience with my own daughter.

On Saturday we were invited to see Disney on Ice: Princess Wishes at Madison Square Garden. This was Harlan’s first introduction to the wonderful world of Disney and I could not have made it any more perfect for her. We sat right by the ice as Tinkerbell whisked us away with her magic through the enchanting stories of our most beloved Princesses as they embarked on an adventure to find their heart’s fondest wish.

We sat mesmerized as we watched Jasmine and Aladdin skate around the rink so eloquently and find “A Whole New World” together

The choreography was truly amazing and told each story perfectly. Harlan sat with eyes wide open and kept saying “woah” as princesses were lifted in the air by their prince and twirled around for everyone to see.

We were even lucky enough to have some characters come right over during the performance to say hi. It startled Harlan a bit, but didn’t deter her from saying hi back.

The 90 minute show was broken up with a 20 minute intermission. The perfect opportunity for us to make this experience for Harlan even more like mine when I was little. Harlan sat and enjoyed a snow cone in a Tinkerbell cup, just as I had done 20 years ago.

The show returned and we witnessed more of the amazing stunts and effects that they show has the offer. We watched as a seaman from Eric’s boat from The Little Mermaid was catapulted onto a chair that was high in the air. The dragon from Sleeping Beauty roared and spit fire from his mouth. Belle and Lumiere performed a kick line with the rest of the kitchen utensils.

Disney on Ice: Princess Wishes is a sure-to-please show for everyone in the family.

As I left the show I made my own wish. Not one that involves a Prince, but a wish that my own little Princess will grow up and one day take her own daughter to a Disney on Ice show and carry on this amazing experience.
