Earlier this week Harlan and I were privileged to be able to attend the kick-off event of the launch of Cause for Celebration. We joined Marlo Thomas, national spokesperson for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Maxine Clark, founder and Chief Executive Bear of Build-A-Bear Workshop at their flagship store on fifth avenue for a morning of singing, dancing, and {of course} “building” a bear!

The Cause for Celebration programs allows guests who schedule a party at any Build-A-Bear Workshop store across the country will have the option of adding an additional $10 dollar donation to their party. Their entire ten dollar donation will be directed to St. Jude to support life-saving research and treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In honor of each guest donation to the hospital to help with their important research and treatment, Build-A-Bear Workshop will, in addition, give a St. Jude patient a gift card to experience the fun of making their very own furry friend at any Build-A-Bear Workshop store nationwide and in Canada.

We spent the morning with St. Jude patients and their families who were flown to New York City to celebrate special milestones in their treatment. To commemorate the event Harlan and I made a special St. Jude Bear. I helped stuff the bear while Harlan picked out a special heart for it. She hugged it the entire way home and even named it “Beary” {not bad for an 18 month old.} For each Bear made during the event, Build-A-Bear Workshop donated a gift card to the children of St. Jude.

ADorable, you, Harlan and “Beary”! St.Jude is near and dear to me. My nephew, Alex, was diagnosed with Leukemia when he was 3 and it was an extremely difficult time in the entire families life.St. Jude was a big part of his recovery and remission.Alex is a 15 year old freshman in high school now. I repay St. Jude for their assistance every chance I get. Thank you for helping out with such a worthy cause!
