When I was little I had a blanket that went everywhere with me. It was one that my grandmother had made for me and it was something that I cherished. This blanket was a part of me, I slept with it every night and brought it with me to sleepovers with my friends. I have such fond memories of that blanket and love it so much so that I’ve kept it and have passed it along to the girls.
Shortly after Avery was born, she was given a lamb lovie by my mother-in-law. Much like my blanket, Avery cherishes this little lamb that she has appropriately named, Lamby. Lamby is always with Avery. He sleeps in her bed, watches television with her on the couch, comforts her when she is sick. Lamby is that little friend of Avery that sticks with her through and through.
Although Lamby is required to stay in the house, for safety reasons, every once in awhile he finds his way into the car with Avery. Most of the time he’s in safe keeping, but he’s had his occasions where he wanders off and we can’t find him.
A couple of weeks ago at bedtime, we did our routine and as we were finishing our story Avery was hopping into bed and went to grab Lamby. But the problem was that Lamby was nowhere to be found. Immediately the search efforts were underway. If Lamby wasn’t found, it was going to be a rough night for all of us. We searched high and low for Lamby. I looked in the car, MacKay looked outside around the house, Harlan searched the playroom, while Avery searched her room. It was only after an hour of searching that we found Lamby hiding between Avery’s mattress and the wall. Avery quickly rescued Lamby and all was right in the world again.
The other night the kids and I were reading one of the short stories that go along with NIVEA’s new Fairytale Tins. NIVEA Creme recently launched four limited edition tins that come with a series of short stories and games, which you can download online. As we were reading Leo’s Adventure in the Pillow Mountains, the story reminded Avery of the time that she lost Lamby and had to save him from the side of her bed, much like Leo saved his bunny. I loved that she made the connection to a similar event in her life. We often talk about the stories that we read, but Avery’s never made a personal connection with one. It was such a wonderful moment to have with all of us.
We’ve read many more of the short stories that go along with the NIVEA Fairytale Tins and each one is as enchanting as the story of Leo saving his stuffed Bunny. I love reading them at the end of each night as we get ready for bed.
While our family has always used NIVEA Creme, the new Fairytale Tins are such a fun addition to our household must-haves.
