Growing up an hour away from the most magical place on earth, Disney World, was magical in itself. I took trips with my family, my school, and we even took my students there every year when I was a teacher. Seeing Mickey and all of his friends never got old even as I got older.
We are taking Harlan to visit Disney World for the first time when we go back to Florida in two weeks. I took her to the Disney store a couple of weeks ago for a preview to Mickey’s Magic Show and she has been hooked ever since. She was not very excited to see Goofy up close {you all remember the infamous penguins episode} but fell in love shortly after.
She has a set of figurines of Mickey and his pals that she carries with her everywhere. Her new favorite show is Mickey’s Clubhouse on Disney Junior. To say that she is currently obsessed is an understatement. Last night I watched her on the monitor reading her Mickey book while laying in her crib before she went to bed. I hear her reading it and saying each and every characters name on the monitor every morning. It is the cutest {and slightly annoying} thing ever.
When we were invited to see Mickey’s Magic Show at Madison Square Garden I knew she was in for a treat! Ninety minutes packed with Mickey and all of his friends. Given that she is still young for a live show, I was still a bit worried that she was going to get restless halfway through the show. But, yet again, she surprised me and sat through the entire thing clapping, dancing, and even trying to say Mickey’s magic word “abracadabra.”
She watched as Mickey and Minnie bring to life the magic from some of our favorite Disney films. We saw Princess Jasmine and her amazing levitation act.
Mickey and Minnie lifted brooms off the ground!
And she laughed as she watched someone get shot out of a cannon!
The show not only brought the magic of Disney films to life, it brought Disney to life for Harlan too!

It looks like you had a fun time! What great photos!
We lived in Celebration before moving, so we are trying our best to shield The Boy from all things Disney! It was just too much Disney living that close. We’ve succeeded so far, he has Mickey pj’s and refers to Mickey only as “a mouse.” Perfect!
Enjoy your vacation! Jealous of all the sunshine you’ll be enjoying!
Best,

I LOVE driving through Celebration. Did you enjoy living there? The community just looks so perfect. She seems to go in phases with her obsessions and I am sure after our trip to Disney she will love it for a couple more months and find the next thing to obsess about.

Disney does everything just right, don’t they? If she was that mesmerized at her young age (and there was no chocolate involved), it had to be good!!!!
🙂
