This past week I have been on a roller coaster ride of emotions. I have my ups and downs, tears and smiles. (for why, see this post) As I try to pull through and get out of this foggy state, I have embraced the people in my life that mean the most to me, my family.

Last weekend we made a quick trip to Washington DC for MacKay’s grandfather’s 90th birthday. It was such a treat to get to spend time with MacKay’s extended family and celebrate 90 years of such a gracious man.

After the party we put on our warmest snow gear and headed outside to the beautiful blanket of snow that covered the backyard.

We got out the toboggan and the sleds and took turns as we whisked our way down the hill.

Even Hudson got in on the fun and chased after every sled that went down the hill.

Harlan wasn’t pleased with the quick moves down the hill so she made it in early for MacKay and I to enjoy it for ourselves. I don’t remember the last time that we had this much fun, wipeouts and all.

Back in the city this weekend was full of family fun. Saturday morning we made our way over to Borders for the Macaroni Kid Valentines Day Party. Harlan munched on delicious NYC Cakes Pops while making a beautiful valentine for me.

After the party we headed over to the west side for an afternoon at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan. This was our first time at the museum and I don’t know why I have waited so long to take Harlan. The featured Wizard of Oz exhibit was filled with hands on activities for children of all ages. With cows from Kansas to the cowardly lion, we had a great time following the yellow brick road.

We had fun upstairs too!

Sunday was a beautiful day in the city. The weather started to warm up a bit (44 degrees is now warm for this Florida girl) and was a perfect day to spend in Central Park.

Harlan brought her stroller to walk around the park and was loving all of the “ohhs and ahhs” she was getting from everyone walking by.

A peaceful walk around the park was just what I needed to end a rough week. I’ve learned that through all of this heartache and pain, my family is the one thing that remains a constant force of happiness in my life.

So to my family, I thank you for being my support and guidance. I love you.

Enjoyed the beautiful pics of your daughter. Tiny strollers are such a universal toddler obsession. Adorable!

You have such a beautiful family and you are such a great, loving mother. YOu have such a warm, open heart. Anyone who is lucky enough to have you in their corner is truly blessed. I am so glad that we have connected on twitter, even if it was over a less than enjoyable shared experience ( commuter marriage). I’m so sorry that you have had a sad start to the year but it seems it has served to make you enjoy the small things even more so. This is one of the greatest things about the ebb and flow of life moving forward. *Hugs*

It was so nice meeting you last night. I have so many great memories of afternoons in the Children’s Museum from when we used to live on the uws – your pics of there and central park make me really miss Manhattan. Glad you are out and about enjoying it even in the terrible weather.
