This winter has been especially brutal on both Harlan and I. Moving from Florida where we are used to the sun and warm weather, this extra long winter weather has taken its toll and has us FREEZING! While is has been very simple for me to keep Harlan warm during the day {she’s actually starting to get used to the layers}, I have been struggling to keep her warm and comfortable at night.

Harlan is a VERY squirmy sleeper. When she was born we used to swaddle her up tight before bed only to wake up for her next feeding almost completely out of the blanket. Once she was old enough I switched her to the sleep sacks which she seemed to enjoy comfortably, but they were a pain to get her in and out of and made it next to impossible to change a diaper with it on.

Now that she is getting old enough to sleep with a blanket I am still struggling to keep it on her. After I tuck her in at night I look at the monitor to check on her and within five minutes the blanket is off and at the opposite end of the crib. When she wakes up in the morning {sans blanket} her hands are cold which makes me uncomfortable and looking for other solutions. I have tried to put her in extra warm pajamas to keep her comfortable at night, but have to take them off first thing in the morning so that she won’t get too hot.

This constant struggle to keep her warm at night was soon remedied when I was introduced to the gunapod. Created by 3 moms who tried other sleeping sacks and were frustrated with the hassle and struggle, they wanted to make their lives easier and their babies more comfortable.

The amazing thing about the gunpaod {and why I LOVE them} is the many unique ways to wear it and take it on and off. The front and all around zippers make it extremely easy for me put it on and remove from Harlan when I need to. The best part is I don’t have to completely take it off to change her diaper.

When I first received the gunapod for review I let Harlan try it on to get the feel of it. She wore it around the apartment and even watched her favorite TV show in it.

When I tried to take it off to put her pajamas on for the evening she wouldn’t let me take it off. Fortunately for me the two buttons are the shoulders are easily accessible and I unsnapped them so it would fall right off of her.

She slept with it on that night and finally managed to make it an entire night with a “blanket” on her. The large neck and arm holes make give her extra room to move at night and make it more comfortable for her to wear.

Not only is the gunapod now a part of our night time routine but is now a must when Harlan is lounging around the apartment. Harlan knows where I keep it and will bring it to me from her room to put it on for her to enjoy. I simply unzip the bottom so that she is able to get the warmth of the blanket and still walk around.

The gunapod is soft, warm, and extremely comfortable for Harlan to wear. With all of its functionality, it truly is the ultimate wearable blanket. Now if only I can talk them in to making this in an adult size!
