I want to introduce you to Laura from The Purse Blogger. Laura is witty, genuine, and knows how to tell a great story. I’ll let her take it from there!

I met my hubby at a gas station. Yes, a gas station. It sounds odd but it’s funny how life works out, that it was meant to be.

I was driving a friend of mine home one night when she asked me if I’d mind swinging her by the gas station down the street so she could drop off her application. It was a Sunday night and it was pretty late. I hesitated but then thought, what the heck. That one request changed my life forever.

We walked in to hand it to the attendant and there he was. Did I know it at the time? No. Did I feel something? Yes. I will always remember that his brother and sister were back there with him. Little did I know how much these three people would impact my life.

Time went on. My friend got the job there. I would go in to get the free drinks and car washes. I still noticed him. I asked my friend about him. She told me what she knew. She could tell I was interested but she knew I wasn’t going to make the first move.

So, she and another guy who worked there made a plan to set us up. My friend told me about it and said the guy was going to tell my hubby about it. I was nervous but so excited.

A few nights later, I went in to see my friend. She wasn’t working. But, he was. At this point we’d said hello and how are you a few times but that’s about it. We talked for a few minutes and I thought for sure he’d ask me out, seeing as how the guy he works with had talked to him about it and all. Well, as time went on, it was obvious he wasn’t going to. I was so disappointed. I knew if I walked out that door I’d feel so down about it. I didn’t want to feel that. So, I got my courage up, and asked him, “What did you think about our friends trying to set us up?” (I can’t believe I did that to this day) It gets better though. He told me he had no clue what I was talking about. I about died. The guy had completely dropped the ball and hadn’t talked to him yet. I felt this small. But, my hubby went on and asked me out. Of course I thought he was feeling sorry for me and to this day he says that’s so not the case. He just didn’t think I was interested in him. After a little persuasion, I gave in and gave him my phone number. He called me the next night and we went out a few nights later.

The rest, as they say…is history.

So cute. Maybe I should go hang out at gas stations to find “Mr. Right.” Or some other random place b/c it could happen like that for me too, right???
