When I started my blog I never imagined it would become what it is today. I just wanted to keep my family informed and let them know how we were adjusting to city life. Not only am I continuing to do that, but I am also meeting an incredible community of women {and men too} that support one another and have become true friends.

Over the weekend I attended my first blog conference, Bloggy Bootcamp. The one day social media conference is hosted by the blogging community The Secret to Success is Support, also known as the SITS Girls. Bloggers just entering the blogosphere like myself to social media mavens can experience and learn more about the world of blogging and social media. Not only was I super excited to attend and learn more about blogging, but I was even more excited to meet some of my blogging friends for the first time in real life!

The weekend got off to a very rough start but quickly got better as soon as I made it to the cocktail party sponsored by Mirassou Wine. There I had a chance to chat with some of my blogger friends I’ve had the pleasure of meeting before including The Mommyologist, Random Handprints, Glamamom, The Fordeville Diaries, Mommys Fabulous and some I met for the first time, Being Kate, Flourish in Progress, Nice Girl Notes, In the Trenches of Mommyhood. It’s always great to have a girls night and chat {especially when great wine is involved.}

After the party we made our way down to the hotel bar for some more drinks and chatting. The night was full of lots of laughter, blog talk and even included a bar brawl with some big Boston men at the end of the night {a story I just won’t get into.} All of our talk and laughter had us closing down the bar at 2am {something I haven’t done since college.}

The next day was full of wonderful speakers who taught me the ins and outs of PR pitches, how to brand myself, the legalities of blogging, including great pictures on my blog, tips on writing great content, how to make money from blogging, and how to give back to the blogging community. To check out all of these great speakers see this page.

I left the conference feeling better than ever about blogging and moving forward with it. Thank you to Tiffany Romero and Francesca Banducci for being such wonderful hostesses. You ladies were truly wonderful and so much fun to be around. I can’t wait to attend another Bloggy Bootcamp!

A big thanks to the wonderful sponsors of the event, Invisalign Teen, Arm and Hammer, Collective Bias, Mirassou Wine, Juice in the City, and Sony.

While I was learning about the wonderful world of blogging, MacKay and Harlan were out exploring Beantown. It was a great chance for them to spend time together and bond because they rarely are able to spend an entire day together. From the looks of the several pictures MacKay sent me throughout the day, they had a blast together. MacKay has even offered to do a guest post of his adventures in the city {we’ll see if he comes through.}

Sunday morning I awoke to wonderful presents and a card from Harlan for Mother’s Day. We took a walk around the city and had breakfast before heading back to NYC.

My adventures in Boston couldn’t have been better. I got to meet some amazing people and learn just how great the blogging community is and also spend it with my wonderful family.

Sounds like an awesome conference/weekend! Wish I could have made it, but the weekend before my last finals just proved impossible for me to travel… ah, next time!

It’ll be GREAT to read a post from Mackay!
