Harlan starts pre-school in just a few weeks and I am so excited to start new traditions as a family. Here’s the traditions I would love to start for Back to School time in our family.
What are your back to school tradition?

So exciting for Harlan to start preschool.
I love the idea of holding a chalkboard with the grade she is entering. I take a picture of my daughter on the first day of school each year but I’ve never had her hold anything.
Thanks for joining us!

Love the “Oh The Places You’ll Go”. And also love the idea of picture taking holding the picture from the previous year!!! I wish I had started that with my son- he is going into 1st grade… Maybe we still can. We have a pic of him in front of out “picture taking tree” from the 1st day of school last year. hmmm….

I am/was a fourth grade teacher and LOVE the idea abouting getting Harlan’s teachers to sign her All the Places You’ll Go book! I can’t wait to start Back to School traditions with my little one in a few years. Such a great idea. Thanks for sharing 🙂

I just can’t get over the fact she’s a preschooler! Those annual shots are going to be such a treat to look back on every year!

Congrats to Harlan starting preschool. Lanagan starts next week as well. Still can’t believe it. I love the Dr. Seuss book idea. I’m totally doing that one!

YAY for preschool! That’s a big step for you and her!
I take back to school pics, but have never thought to include some indication of year or age or anything.

Awww, i love those traditions – they sound like fun. We don’t have any yet either, but I think I may be borrowing some of your ideas. 🙂

I love the idea of taking a picture of them the first day of school with a chalkboard next to it with the grade they will be in. And I love the Dr. Suess idea as well. When I was a teacher, I’d read that story on the first day and last day of school. The kids loved it and I love it as well. It also makes for a great back-to-school/ graduation gift.

You have great ideas! I love the idea of the pic with the previous year’s pic.
I always take a pic of my boys walking away into school. Can you imagine the cool progression of pic that will make by the time they are done? Starting out as teeny little ones with these huge backpacks all the way up to a big senior walking away…. I cry just thinking about it.
Um, yes. I’m a dork.
