Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays. Not only does it have an amazing spiritual meaning behind it, but it is also one that the kids have the chance to enjoy as well.
Yesterday morning the girls woke up bright and early barging into our room asking to see what the Easter Bunny brought them. Harlan had been talking about it for weeks and the day was finally here, so she wasted no time looking out for her stuff.
The Easter Bunny also left an assortment of Easter eggs all over the apartment which the girls had so much fun finding. Unfortunately with our apartment not being the biggest, there aren’t very many spots for the eggs, but that didn’t deter the girls from having fun grabbing them and putting them in their Easter Baskets.
Somehow we managed to make it (on time!) to the early service at church. After the service we headed up to the roof deck for another Easter Egg hunt.
Macks slept most of the day, but we did get him to wake up for the family Easter photo. This was our first official holiday photo as a family of five (which is still so surreal) and we managed to get two out of three kids looking at the camera and one smile. I’d say that’s pretty good for the first try. 😉
Although we’ve lived in the city for nearly four years, we haven’t once made it to the Easter Parade on Fifth Avenue. MacKay made brunch reservations near the area so we walked through the streets to check it out. It isn’t so much a parade as it is a gathering of people who go all out with making these incredible Easter themed hats. It was so amazing to see these creations that people made. The girls loved it so much that we’ve promised them that we will make hats next year and join in.
It was such a gorgeous spring day yesterday and the girls loved being able to walk around and see everything. They even stopped for a little dance in the street together (totally unprompted.) Gosh, I love these girls.
Macks managed to sleep nearly the entire day, so we couldn’t get many photos of him, but I did mange to get a quick photo before I got him ready for bed last night.
Hope you had a Happy Easter!
