Harlan starts kindergarten next week. It takes a lot for me to type that out without bursting into tears. I know that she is more than ready to go and she will be amazing, but deep down inside it’s so hard for me to grasp that she’s old enough to go off on her own to elementary school.

Harlan isn’t the only one headed off to school, Avery starts preschool in a couple of weeks. She is so used to following along in her big sister’s footsteps that this is finally her chance to shine. And I know she is going to be shining bright. She always tried to tag along when I dropped Har off at preschool, so now that she’s got a classroom that’s all her own, she is giddy with excitement. I’ll miss having her around all of the time, but I am so eager to see how she does with kids her own age.

School isn’t the only thing that’s new for us this year, getting the girls dressed for school is something I am trying to prepare myself for. Harlan had a uniform for preschool when we lived in Manhattan which made for a super easy time getting her dressed everyday. There was no fighting or arguing over a pair of shoes. She knew what she had to wear and that was that.

This year there is no uniform required for either of the girls’ school, so that means that I have the task of picking out their clothes and getting them dressed in the morning. Avery isn’t so bad (yet) but Harlan definitely has an opinion on what she wears everyday.

I’ve slowly started my back to school shopping for the girls, but I know that I have to bring Har along with me for clothes so that I buy clothes that she actually will wear. She loves dresses and skirts and is not one to wear pants of any kind. Avery is quickly catching on to her sister’s opinions and let’s me know that she wants to wear a dress every time I go to her closet to pick out her clothes.

I’m still trying to figure out a plan to avoid any outfit drama every morning before school. If you have any tips that work, please let me know!

Thankfully I know I won’t have to argue with either of the girls to wear these gorgeous outfits from Boden. The second that they came in the mail, both girls took off their clothes to try them on. They’ve been begging me to wear them everyday since.

I love these Printed Tea Dresses  for the girls. They are the perfect “twirl” dresses  (as Harlan and Avery like to call them) because they are super soft and flawy. The bold prints and colors make it versatile for many different seasons.

Harlan has been begging me for a pair of boots for fall and winter and these short leather boots are exactly what she was looking for. The are lined with sherpa on the inside making them super soft and warm. The zipper makes them super easy for the girls to take on and off, which will definitely help save me time in the morning as I am getting them dressed!

Now that summer is coming to an end and fall is on its way, these cardigans and footless tights are just enough to keep them warm on those cooler days. Since neither of the girls really like to wear pants, I’m always on the hunt for thick tights for them to wear during the colder months. These cable knit tights were soft and thick enough to keep their legs warm.

(I didn’t tell them to pose at all, but love that the way that they did is a perfect depiction of what their relationship is like. So much love for one another.)

Harlan has already declared this outfit as her first day of school outfit. I can only imagine she’s going to want to sleep in it the night before because she is so excited.
