We celebrated Macks’ first birthday at a party at our house last Saturday. I’ve always wanted my children’s first birthday parties to be intimate get togethers rather than huge parties because I know those will be on the horizon before we know it.

Inspired by Macks’ room, I decided to go for a Woodland theme. I knew that many of the items that I purchased could double as decor for his room, so it was a win/win. 🙂

I made this banner for Avery’s first birthday and keep adding letters as I need them. I have to say, for as much time as it took, it’s been totally worth it and I have gotten so much use out of it.

Much of the decor I either already had, asked my dad to send to me from our cabin in Alabama, or bought from local stores.

I bought this piece of wood from Michael’s and just sketched Macks’ name on it and decided to display it on a pair of antlers my dad sent me. It’s now on a shelf in his room.

These animals and logs were bought at Michael’s as well. The animals were used as a display on Macks’ shelf in his room and I brought them downstairs to use as simple decor. I love that when he’s old enough she can play with them.

The cutlery was left over from previous parties with the girls and I love these straws that look like a piece of wood. I bought them from Amazon.

His smash cake was a bit of a hassel only because I am not a baker. If you could see inside that cake you would see that it’s being “glued together” by a bunch of frosting. I didn’t mind it because I knew Macks was going to be digging his hands in soon enough.

These s’more pops were the best things I’ve ever tasted. Simply dip marshmallows in melted chocolate then in crushed graham crackers (that I colored green with food coloring to look like moss.) They were gone in a matter of seconds.

These acorns were super easy to make. With Hershey’s kisses, mini Nilla Wafers, chocolate frosting, and chocolate chips, just assemble and let dry.

I love cucumber sandwiches, so made them and cut into trees to go along with the theme.

These snails were simply rolled up breadsticks with carrots sticking out of them. Great snacks for kids.

I’ve long been an admirer of Gail from One Tough Cookie and her work. I approached her with my idea for Macks’ party and she made these gorgeous cookies. They were the stand-out snack at the party!

Easy caprese snack that were made to look like toad stools.

These “dirt” cups were loved by the girls. I used the left over graham crackers for a topping.

Avery got into all of the sweets as soon as the party started.

I couldn’t get a decent photo of Macks because he was always on the run. Running after his sisters of course!

My sister had a blast in the camper with Avery.

I bought this camper from Land of Nod and it’s the best. It is much bigger than I thought, but I can imagine many fun sleepover nights in it already.

The birthday boy giving me some love.

This was the first time we’ve let him really have any sweets and he was in love.

Macks didn’t know what to think about the cake and us singing Happy Birthday, but he went with it.

He had much more fun digging into the cake!
