What are your pet peeves?

Pssst: don’t you know that you can clip people’s ankles with your stroller. Then maybe you can get on the elevator.

And OH how I hate the nosey people who think they need to give parenting tips!

I can not STAND unsolicited advice, and it is so hard not to go off on them when they’re being all judg-y! I don’t blame you for getting a little peeved!

Wait, what are you talking about, I love when people stop me in the streets and tell me what a terrible job I’m doing. 😉

I always use the stairs when I’m out in public if I can find them instead of taking the elevator.

Unsolicited advice is always annoying from people.

Love these. Boo to crappy people in the elevator! I’ve experienced that before too. Another reason I get angry at lazy people. And yes, unsolicited advice from strangers is super annoying. Every mom should feel you there. Bookmarking your site – love the concept 🙂

I don’t think I’ve ever been in a subway elevator. That is SO annoying. Unsolicited advice, yeah, it’s the absolute worst. I guess they’re just trying to be helpful at least.

I don’t think I’ve ever used a subway elevator. Obviously Mom’s with strollers should be allowed on but then again these are probably the same people that don’t give up their seat for pregnant women…that’s my biggest pet peeve!

You need to get Harlan a tee shirt that says, “My Mommy doesn’t need YOUR advice! ” Maybe they’ll get the hint! 🙂

Dude, I totally agree with you. I cannot STAND it when people see me with Aiden and his stroller and yet STILL get in front of me while waiting for the subway elevator. UGH! And yea, the unsolicited advice… that drives me crazy!!!! Grr…

I don’t know why you run into so many people on the street that feel the need to tell you what to do. Maybe it’s because you have a sweet, welcoming “please give me your opinion” face. Living in New York all my life, I have the don’t “F” with me body language lol. I am sooooo excited to tell my pet peeves: Every morning, I used to walk to work while the store fronts would “water” the side walk. By the time I got to work, the bottom of my pants would be SOAKED and I would have to sit in them all day. Why can’t the side walk be swepted and not watered? Extending on your elevator etiquette, it drives me crazy when people use the elevator at department stores or malls when they don’t need to and then get pissed when they have to squeeze in for a stroller. I OBVIOUSLY can’t use the escalators but they can!!!

People in public places can be so rude and unbelievably to Moms and pregnant woman. I don’t get it and never will! As for giving advice… my friend lived in Italy as a child and she said the little old ladies dressed all in black would tell you everything and discipline you as if their own. She had a little old lady smack her hand (lightly) in an Art gallery saying “NON TOCARE!” (Dont’ Touch!). Cracks me up! I just smile and brush it off (and mumble something rude under my breath!).

Ugh. Unsolicited advice? The worst and ohmygod so very common!

In other news- love your speaking voice- so fun to listen to!

You have no idea how many times I’ve been tempted to tell those rude elevator people “Being fat is NOT a disability. Go take the stairs, you could use a little exercise.”

Reply

Dang, that elevator story makes me stabby. That’s terrible.

omg seriously with the elevators! what is with new yorkers? and it bothers me that no one helps moms with the strollers down the stairs. or when I’m carrying Kennedy on the subway and no one lets me sit and I’m standing for 10+ stops trying to keep a 2 year old happy.

Gah I can’t stand unsolicited parenting advice. I have a whole pet peeve thing with elevators and the way people use them, but that’d be a post in your comments so I won’t go there. Needless to say, people need etiquette lessons on how to use an elevator.

Oy. She should also have a helmet while she is in the stroller. At all times. LOL

Reply

You should just have her walk around with a helmet on 24/7 because, you know. She might trip on a tree root or something.
Stupid woman.

Elevators are rare enough in the metro, be it in NYC or Paris. It should be a law by the way: “Elevators mandatory in public transportation systems. The end.”
In any case, priority should always be made to the elderly, incapacitated, and parents with small children. Whether it’s in the bus, the elevator, or in line at checkout (yes, they do that in France, love it! I have gotten the cold shoulder once, but I was over 8 month pregnant and large enough to brag my right to come to the register ahead of everybody else. So are the rules!)

Great vlog! 🙂
