Since becoming a mother there are many things that have been put to the wayside, myself included. Before I was a mom I always told myself I would never become “one of those moms” that just throws her hair up in a ponytail and will always be seen without makeup. Between the lack of time and lack of effort on my part, more often than not I am one of those moms.

With the shortage of sleep and constant running after a toddler, it’s so much more convenient for me to just throw my hair up and not spend time on blowdrying. Putting on makeup takes up time that I sometimes don’t have because I am struggling with a toddler who doesn’t want to wear what I picked out for her. There are times when I look in the mirror and tell myself “man you look rough.”

After telling myself that way too much, I decided to make a commitment to start taking time out so that I can look and feel better. I started going to the gym, carving out time to do my hair and makeup, and taking better care of my skin.

With the lack of sleep I have been getting {I have an awful habit of not falling asleep until after midnight} I have started to notice the dark circles under my eyes becoming worse. I am still fairly young and was a little bit naive to think that I didn’t need to do anything with my face other than wash it to keep it refreshed and looking smooth.

About two weeks ago I started using a cucumber tea eye gel from basq under my eyes before I went to bed.

The eye gel contains cucumber which is a natural coolant and green tea which contains antioxidants that battle free radicals from the environment that cause damage to the skin and lead to aging.

I was willing to try anything to that would at least attempt to zap the puffiness and lighten the dark circles. The first time I put it on it gave an instant chill to my eyes. The feeling was refreshing yet calming at the same time. I have used it every night since. Although I don’t see a huge difference, I do notice that my eyes look slightly less puffy than they did two weeks ago. The more significant reason that I have continued to wear the eye gel every night is the rejuvenation my eyes feel when I apply it. I wake up in the morning with my eyes feeling a bit perkier and less drab. The liveliness that it has brought back to my eyes in the morning is enough to continue using it!

Sounds refreshing…maybe I’ll try it. I have a terrible habit of getting to bed really late, too. I’m always looking for things to make me appear more refreshed!

It really feels great on my eyes. The coolness that it gives your eyes is the best!

I’ve just started using an eye cream, too. I don’t see any difference, but it does make me feel like I’m trying! I’m thinking the perfect scarf might draw the attention away from my face anyway. 🙂

Lol. It’s the little things that can at least mentally make ourselves feel more beautiful! 😉

I am definitely one of those moms. SIGH. That eye cream sounds great!

Sad isn’t it? Maybe I should just embrace the ponytail and no makeup look! 😉

I kinda like the idea of it having a chilling effect! It sounds wonderful!

Yeah that is definitely my favorite part of the gel. Gives my eyes an instant boost!

It sounds so nice! Do you keep it in the fridge to get the chilling effect or is it just like that? I’ve heard that it’s a good idea to store eye creams in the fridge, but whenever I’ve tried to do it, I forget they’re there!

No I didn’t. I too, would probably forget it’s there! I keep it in the bathroom and it still gives that cooling effect. It really is amazing!

Do you know that I was just looking at my blog post categories and my eyes bugged out of my head when I saw that the category titled “me time” had but ONE post! One single, lonlely solitary little post. Terrible! Thanks for reminding me to remedy that!!

It’s easy to forget about ourselves and get wrapped up in our family’s needs. Take a couple hours and do something only for you! It’s amazing how you feel after!

Sounds like something I need for my dark circles.

It’s not something that is live changing but I can definitely see a subtle difference!

I so need this eye cream or something similar! Lately I started wearing night cream. SOB. But I figured let me try to avoid wrinkles in any way I can, get a jump start, you know?

I totally agree! It’s best to start early!
