It started out as a cold and rainy weekend here in New York City. The weather has been so fickle lately. On Saturday we had to pull out the winter coats and rain boots just to make it to the gym.
As a Florida girl, it’s so foreign to me to nearly be in the month of June and still have our coats out. Every single time that I tell Avery that it’s time to go “bye-bye” she runs to get her jacket. She’s so used to that being our routine that I don’t know what she is going to do once we can just simply get up and go.
Harlan points out every single time we leave the house whether or not we have to wear our coats. She loves the warm weather, so I know she is super excited to it to get here for good.
Despite the two rainy, cold days, Mother Nature made up for it on Monday with absolutely stunning weather. It was a picture perfect day and a great day for a picnic. We love spending the afternoon in Central Park with our blankets spread out and with family and friends.
We packed up the stroller and took pups along for an afternoon taking our shoes off and running around in the grass.
It’s never occurred to me how much of a free spirit Harlan was until yesterday. She couldn’t wait to take off her shoes and run around. She was jumping, rolling around in the grass, and had a smile on her face the entire time.
Avery has finally warmed up to the idea of being in the grass and couldn’t wait to run around after Harlan. Although she loved running around, she was much more excited about all of the food that we had to share (she’s my kind of girl.) She tried watermelon for the first time. She enjoyed the watermelon juice but not the actual watermelon. She threw it on the ground as soon as she was done with drinking all of the juice out of it.
She also tried a snow cone for the very first time. This was my favorite treat from the ice cream man growing up. As soon as I brought it to our blanket she grabbed it and started to eat it. Mmmmmmm…..was all she kept saying as she ate it.
As if running around and rolling in the grass wasn’t enough, Harlan insisted on climbing the tree that we were sitting under. She needed some help, but one she got up there she couldn’t wait to explore the world from her new view.
I hope you all had a great three day weekend!

Yesterday was a beautiful day to be in the park. We spent a lot of time there as well. This next weekend is supposed to be HOT though, so the Floridian in you will be happy.
