Our weekend in Vermont went by so quickly, but ended in the most perfect way. On our drive back to the city we stopped by a beautiful orchard in Shelburne, Vermont to pick our own apples. We’ve gone every year in the suburbs of New York, so it was a treat for us to experience something different.

The orchard sits right on Lake Champlain with the Adirondack Mountains in the background. It was the most perfect backdrop to pick our own apples. The orchard was desolate leaving us feeling as if we had the entire farm to ourselves. The trees were filled with bright red macintosh apples that were low enough to the ground for even Avery to grab.

It took Avery a while to get used to walking around in this long grass (she’s a true city girl,) but once she realized how much fun it was to run around and play, she couldn’t get enough.

MacKay took the job of getting us the apples from the very top of the tree! We credit him for getting us the biggest and juiciest apples that day.

The pups joined us on the apple picking adventure and had so much fun exploring every single nook and cranny. Avery had fun trying to contain them on the leash.

This little girl wanted to be just like her daddy and get the apples from the very top of the tree.

This girl wasn’t as interested in picking the apples as she was running around and playing with the dogs.

Lately, Harlan has been very interested in using our camera and insisted on taking a photo of our freshly picked apples. I was very impressed with the shot she got. These apples tasted as good as they looked!

This view could not have been any more spectacular. The fall hues with the lake and mountains made me want to stay there forever.

One of my favorite things about this farm is that they work on the honor system. After we finished picking our apples, we simply drove our car up to the orchard market to weigh and pay for them. It’s so refreshing to know that they completely trust their customers and not something I experience very often.

The outdoor market was full of autumn favorites grown locally on the farm. We left with some fresh apple cider and pumpkins to take back to the city!

Avery had the best time exploring. This little girls loves to check out the details of everything.

This is probably my favorite photo of the girls from our trip to Vermont. Their fun loving smiles and attitude shows just what our weekend was all about. I couldn’t have asked for a better fall family trip. It’s going to be hard to top this next year, but adding another little member to our family just might do the trick!
