My Dearest A,

Happy Birthday! Today you celebrate your very first birthday. It is so amazing to think that just this time last year, I went to bed without the slightest inkling that you would come (I thought you were mighty cozy in my belly.) But with little notice and very quick and easy exit, you blessed our family.

Avery, you have this little spunk about you that I absolutely adore. You’re energetic, outgoing, and full of love. You wake up with a smile and go to bed with one too. It’s your genuine happiness that lights up the room and brings all the attention your way.

I must admit that I was so nervous before I had you. I had no idea what having another baby in the house was going to be like. But you have made it more spectacular than ever. Since day one, you have been so easy going and had that “go with the flow” attitude. You are happy in any situation that you are put into. It’s a quality about you that I both admire and love.

This year has gone by more quickly than I would have liked. We watched you as you gave us your very first smile and now we are watching you as you walk everywhere and greet everyone. You are slowly becoming a toddler and no longer my little baby. But I want you to always remember that no matter how old you are, you are always going to be my “Little A.”

Happy Birthday, my little love. I love you with all of my heart.
