It’s Wednesday! That mean’s it time to spread some positivity and tell me why you’re happy. There’s so much going on in our lives that it’s nice to stop and reflect on something that’s happened that’s put a smile on our face.

Lately, while I’m preparing dinner, Harlan comes into the kitchen, hops on the counter and we just talk. It’s become one of those moments that I look forward to each day. As she gets older, our conversations have gotten bigger. They’ve become more real. More mature. Some are significant in subject, while others are silly and laid back. But the best part is that all of these conversations have meaning. They are all a time where Harlan and I can have worthwhile conversation. Just the two of us. That makes me happy.

Now tell me something good. Something that’s made you happy. It can be big, it can be small, just something that has put a smile on your face. You can participate by sharing a photo on Wednesday with the hashtag #WhyImHappyWednesday and tagging me @amommyinthecity or feel free to write it in the comments below. I do read them all and am happy to reply back on your good news! You can also join in the conversation on my Facebook page!

I took a peek into the family room this evening to see all three kids cuddled up together on the couch. Macks was sitting on Harlan’s lap and all three were quietly just watching television. I sat and watched them in amazement. This view was nothing out of the ordinary. They love getting as close as they possibly can to one another and just sit and laugh, tell stories of make believe, or watch a movie.

As I watched them tonight, I couldn’t help but think that they show me every single day the true meaning of love. While sometimes they fight like all siblings do, they also stick up for another another as all siblings should. They are playmates, roomates, and best of all, they are the very best friends.

They ask for each other when one is not around. They show true empathy when one is hurt or is upset. They are each others number one support when they need it the most.

The other day Harlan came home from school a little bit upset. I asked her what was wrong and she told me that she had asked her entire class to make birthday cards for Macks, but her teacher told her that they didn’t have enough time. While I understood that she was upset, I couldn’t help but smile as just how big her heart was. Not only was she showing the love for her little brother, but she wanted others to show it as well. And she showed her friends just how much she cared for her sibling.

That’s true love.

Never in a million years would I have imagined that my heart could feel this way when I watch my children and the love they have for one another. It’s one of my greatest accomplishments as a mother to know that they know the power of unconditional love. That no matter where life brings us, they will always know that from the very beginning of their lives, they have felt and experienced what true love really means. And I get to watch it from the front row every single day.

It’s Wednesday! That means it’s time for you to tell me something good. Tell me one moment (big or small) that put a smile on your face. Let’s spread some positivity!

It’s pretty obvious why I’m happy today. Not only did my baby boy turn two today, but MacKay got home today after being gone for a week! I’m so happy to have our family back together and I know the kids are too.

We had the best time celebrating Macks today. The girls spoiled him and were so excited to celebrate his special day. We did everything he wanted to do and more. It was so great just to spend our energy on this little guy that gives us so much happiness.
