Macks turns two in two weeks. First the first time in the six years that I’ve been on this journey of parenthood, I’ll be celebrating my child’s second birthday without another little one on the way. It sounds strange to admit that. And I’m sure it seems strange to others that I’d even realize that. But I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately as I prepare for this next milestone in Macks’ life.

Last week, as I was sick with the stomach bug, I couldn’t help to think to myself that maybe I was pregnant (I’m not.) Of course I knew in the back of my mind that I wasn’t, but I welcomed the idea. To be honest, now isn’t the right time for us to have another baby (if we are even going to have another baby,) but having the possibility in my head did give me a little bit of happy butterflies.

I never thought I’d be at this place. Not knowing whether I want another baby, yet still finding it hard knowing that I’m not growing our family again, like I’d done at this stage with the girls.

I’m trying to fully embrace this new chapter. The one where the entire family can be involved in our adventures. We’re finally there. Now that Macks is older, there’s been a little bit of a weight lifted off of our shoulders. Things feel just a little bit less chaotic. Things feel right.

Who knows what the future holds for our family. If we are meant to be a family of five or if we are meant to grow. Only time will tell. For now I’ll just hold onto what I have right now. I’ll learn to live in the moment. Celebrate what my life has given me so far. And embrace this new first.

Jonas made a big hit on Connecticut over the weekend and while it snowed outside, I was stuck inside with a stomach bug. I’d had it since Wednesday night and it just wasn’t getting any better. Thank goodness the storm kept us inside, because it was the perfect excuse for me to curl up in bed and sleep.

With all of the snow we got, it made for the perfect winter backdrop for sledding on Sunday. Early Sunday afternoon, we packed up the car and headed over to a hill close by. This was the first big snow of the season for us, so we weren’t the only ones with the sledding idea. It seemed like the entire town was there. Thankfully everything went smoothly and everyone had a great time.

Har is always determined to go as fast as she can. She’s the adventurous type and will try anything. I think you can tell by the smile on her face how much fun she had.

Macks wasn’t quite sure of what to think. There were many patches of snow where he would step and nearly half of his body would sink down. He stayed on the packed stuff.

Until he found the playground and then tried to make his way over. (He didn’t get very far as the snow was way too deep.)

It took Avery a while, as she is more cautious, but she had a blast going down the hill with MacKay.

Macks finally decided he wanted to go down the hill, so we went on a ride. He just kept asking or more.

Hope everyone on the East Coast braved the storm well and had a great time enjoying the gorgeous lanscape that Jonas left behind!

When we first moved into our house, we fell in love with it because it was everything we wanted and needed very little work done to it. If anything, all the updates were cosmetic and something we could work on over time.

While the girls’ room,  Macks’ room, and the play room were first on our list, I am slowly but surely getting to the other rooms in the house. Our downstairs bathroom is tiny, but I always felt the paint color made it feel dated. I knew we wouldn’t have to do much to it, making it a quick and easy project. I fell in love with Chasing Paper when I did the accent wall in Macks’ room. It was so easy to apply and added such a pop to his room. With so many designs to choose from, I knew I’d find a perfect pattern for the downstairs bathroom.

As a sucker for gold and for peonies, I fell in LOVE with the gold and cream Peonies design. The print was hand-drawn by designer Caitlin Keegan and adds just the warmth and calm that I was hoping to acheive in the bathroom.

I took the weekend and applied the wallpaper by myself. It didn’t take long and because the room is square, it was fairly easy to apply. All you do to apply is peel the back off of the wallpaper and stick it on the wall, just like a sticker!

Rather than going out and purchasing all new hardware for the bathroom, I simply spray painted the old hardware gold and bought simple white hand towels from Target to give the bathroom a more modern update than it had before.

I also spray painted the outlet covers gold so that they would blend in well with the wallpaper.

I think eventually I will update the mirror and light fixture to something a bit more modern, but thankfully they go with the decor already.

I am so happy with the way that this bathroom turned out. It was the easiest makeover of the house so far. The bathroom has a completely different look than before and has the romatic, yet modern look I was going for!

(Disclosure: I did receive the Chasing Paper wallpaper for this project. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. Chasing Paper really is THE BEST when it comes to affordable, yet stylish removeable wallpaper.)
